World Geography

Exploring World Geography by Notgrass is a comprehensive high school course that introduces students to the physical and cultural geography of the world. Students will explore continents, countries, and regions while gaining a deeper understanding of the people, places, and events that shape our world. Through 30 engaging units, each focusing on a specific region or theme, students will study physical geography, political boundaries, and cultural traditions while building essential skills such as map reading, critical thinking, and cultural awareness.

In this 30-week class for grades 9-12, students will have the opportunity to watch videos, complete projects, participate in group activities, and engage in discussion as we examine the geography of our world through the lens of Christianity.

Each week, students will read one unit from Exploring World Geography Volumes 1-2, along with additional primary source materials and maps from the companion text, Exploring World Geography Gazetteer. Students will also complete lesson review questions, mapping activities, unit quizzes, and comprehensive exams. Each semester, we will read at least one literary selection from the list below during class. More selections will be read as time allows.

We will NOT read all of these books, and students do NOT have to buy the books unless they want to follow along in class.

Units 3-4: Blood Brothers (Elias Chacour with David Hazard)

Units 5-7: Patricia St. John Tells Her Own Story (Patricia St. John)
