World Geography

In this 30-week course for students in grades 9-12, we will explore how humans have understood, used, and changed the surface of Earth. We will use the tools and thinking processes of geographers to examine patterns of human population, migration, and land use. This World Geography course is designed to provide a comprehensive exploration of global patterns, cultures, and human interactions.

Throughout the course, students will study fundamental geographic concepts, analyzing cultural landscapes to understand how societies shape and are shaped by their physical environments. Population dynamics, political geography, economic systems, and development will be examined to explore the interconnectedness of the global landscape. Cultural and social patterns, urbanization, settlement dynamics, environmental sustainability, and essential geospatial skills will also be covered.

Join us on a journey to unlock the complexities of the human experience, develop essential analytical skills, and cultivate a global perspective that is vital for navigating a interconnected world.

We will use an AP (Advanced Placement) book for the course. However, students and parents must choose whether to register with an approved testing center for the AP exam administered at the end of the school year.

Required materials: Barron’s 2025 AP Human Geography prep book. The 2025 edition will be released in July of 2024. Parents who have registered for this course will receive a link to order the book when it is released.
