Sketch Render and Paint

Painting is a learned skill.

Even an accomplished artist can lose skills when not creating regularly.  Like a muscle, painting skills can atrophy.  Artistic skills can also be learned and built over time. One of my favorite quotes is from Pablo Picasso-

“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up”.

This 30-week art class will guide students through the steps to learn how to sketch and paint landscapes, portraits, still life, and botanicals in Ink wash, watercolor, and acrylic mediums.

First, your child will become more skilled in sketching what is around them. Next, your student will learn to make a more realistic rendering of our subject matter.  Finally, we hope to practice simple painting skills that your students can carry with them moving forward. While working with students of all different levels, my goal is to push my more experienced artists harder and have every child work up to their potential. Benefits of Drawing and painting include improved creativity, concentration, memory, and problem-solving skills, stress relief, and self-confidence.

My ultimate goal is to help the students become comfortable with sketching, painting, and creating beauty in their projects to reflect God’s beauty in the world around them.

Students perform best with some previous art experience.
