Psychology & Human Interactions
Challenge yourself to think critically and analytically about the complexities of human behavior as we begin our journey into the intricate world of Psychology and Human Interactions! This 30-week course is designed to provide high school students in grades 9-12 with a comprehensive understanding of key psychological principles. Let’s dive into the amazing human brain that God so perfectly created to study its structure and explore cognitive functions such as perception, attention, and problem-solving. We will study dimensions of emotional intelligence, including the identification, expression, and regulation of emotions. Students will examine case studies and engage in discussions to enhance and develop analytical skills.
Our class will dissect the nuances of effective communication, emphasizing verbal and non-verbal cues including how our tone impacts our message. We will develop critical skills in active listening, conflict resolution, and conveying messages with precision. Students will even learn a “top secret formula” for apologizing! We will investigate the dynamics of social influence and interpersonal relationships by analyzing real-world scenarios to comprehend the impact of social forces on individual and collective behavior.
Course content includes thoughtful discussions and practicing learned skills in groups and one-to-one relationships, therefore respectful and active class participation is an integral component of this course. Upon completion of this course, students should gain a solid foundation in Psychology and Human Interactions for future academic pursuits. Course Requirements:

Introduction to Psychology from a Christian Perspective, 7SistersHomeschool, e- book. This textbook is a digital download. Parents will receive an email with a link to the text, coupon code, and instructions before the course begins.
Students will fulfill course requirements through use of the syllabus, textbook, homework, quizzes, tests, and additional meaningful activities. (1.5-2hours)
Students will need to provide a 3-ring binder (at least 1.5” preferred) with dividers and paper.
Please note:
Looking Out/Looking In by Adler & Proctor, 16th ed., will be used as a reference text. It is not necessary for students to purchase this book. Additional required readings may be checked out at the library.
This course may be counted as a ½ credit high school Psychology course and ½ credit high school Social Science course. Please check with your cover school for confirmation.
