Pre-Cal/ACT math

Prerequisites for this course include Geometry and Algebra 2.  Pre-Cal/ACT math is designed to give an introduction of pre-calculus topics with integrated ACT practice over 32 weeks in an hour-and-a-half session. Many high school students have a gap in what they have learned through Algebra 2 and what is assessed on the ACT. This course fills that gap. Students will be introduced to advanced functions, trigonometry, analytic geometry, algebraic manipulation, and basic calculus concepts. Students will also learn how to use their graphing calculator to help them solve ACT problems faster and more efficiently. They will develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking abilities, and mathematical fluency that are essential for success in advanced mathematics and various S.T.E.M. fields.

The course will be structured with tutor-made videos weekly and practice problems done through iXL.com. In-class time will be spent reinforcing the video lessons and being exposed to ACT practice. In class, students are challenged to engage with their peers to think abstractly, reason logically and apply mathematical principles to real-world scenarios.

Students will need to come to class having viewed the weekly lessons and completed their online assignments to stay on track.

Pre-Cal/ACT math does count as a 4th math credit for college-bound students.
