Computer Applications
This 30-week class teaches computer application skills to prepare students for their future. Students will learn business-critical, foundational computing skills for college and careers. In today’s high-tech, digital world, students need the necessary computer skills to be competitive and get noticed by employers. Using a hands-on approach, students will learn/improve correct keyboarding techniques and gain experience exploring software applications for word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and multimedia presentation. We will use the software applications Microsoft Office and Google.

Personal accountability for safe and responsible use of information technology
Improve proficiency of common features in several application software programs
Creative and innovative production of presentations
Basics of spreadsheets, formulas, and graphing
Improved keyboard technique for proficient typing
Resume writing and formatting
Required materials:
Students MUST have access to a laptop or tablet with a real keyboard, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), and Google. They must be able to bring their computer/tablet and keyboard to class. Apple Macs do not work well with Microsoft Office lessons as their version of Microsoft Office is different from the Windows version.
Access to Schoology – This is where assignments and grades will be posted.
Access to Google Classroom – Assignments and quizzes will also be posted here to be used in the classroom.
Class homework requirements: 1-1.5 hours of homework each week.
