Cantering the Country
Cantering the Country is an exciting and interactive 30-week USA geography class designed for young explorers eager to learn about the states, landmarks, and unique features of our nation. Through stories, songs, art projects, and hands-on activities, students will “canter” across the country, discovering fascinating facts about different regions, cultures, and traditions.
Each week, students will explore a new state or region, learning about its geography, history, iconic landmarks, and fun trivia. Students might even sample foods from a particular region. Activities may include creating state-themed crafts, singing songs about the states, and participating in simple map-reading exercises. The class emphasizes curiosity, creativity, and collaboration while building foundational geography skills.
This class is perfect for young learners who love adventure and are ready to embark on an imaginative journey across the United States! Students will be encouraged to identify states by shape on a map, recognize key landmarks, develop basic map skills, and foster an appreciation for the diversity and beauty of our wonderful country!
Students are not expected to know how to read or write in this class. Little learners are also not expected to sit still for the duration of the class. Plenty of time for movement and play are given throughout the class which enhances their ability to learn.
