Can’t Live Without Science

We take a lot of things for granted, including modern inventions like the Internet and antibiotics, and natural phenomena like extreme weather, bacteria—even dirt! In Science You Can’t Live Without, students will learn fun facts about science and realize how our lives would be different without soap, clocks, plastic...and more! What if there was no clean water…or sleep…or (*gasp*) cell phones? It might get a little gross, but it’ll be very interesting!

Through books and videos, discussions, and experiments with little weekly homework (1-3 pages weekly), this class will introduce young learners to a variety of scientific topics to explore how the world was different without certain scientific discoveries and how our lives would change without those discoveries and other God-given blessings that we often think of as bothers like insects, bees, and even boogers! (I know. Eww, right? But, scientifically, we do need them.)

All supplies will be provided.

Homework will be given weekly and highly encouraged to be completed. This gives the student and parent a time/way to discuss what was learned in class and provides a jumping-off point for parents to continue learning at home. As each student has varied abilities, I welcome parents, siblings, grandparents, etc., to assist students with any writing. No reading or writing will be required during class, so learners of all levels are welcome.
