Business Math

 Is your student always looking for a way to make money or start a business? Does your student dream of owning a business? Being their own boss? High school Abeka Business Math is designed to equip students with the practical mathematical skills needed to navigate the world of business and personal finance. Through real-world applications students will explore topics such as how to manage a business, budgeting, banking, interest rates, investments, taxes, and other business decision making skills. This class will help your child understand concepts such as accounts receivable and payable, bookkeeping, the New York Stock Exchange, corporate bonds, and small business loans.

The course emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving, helping students develop financial literacy while learning how to make informed choices about money and business operations. By blending foundational math with practical scenarios, students will gain a strong understanding of how math is used in everyday business situations, preparing them for future success in both personal and professional financial endeavors. Abeka Business math provides detailed descriptions, examples, and ample practice problems, so your child could be on his way to becoming a business owner. 

In class assignments are designed to reinforce concepts taught in class and completed at home by the student. These assignments include a mix of individual exercises, real-world applications, and fun and engaging collaborative group tasks. The students will be assigned one project per semester, students will apply mathematical concepts to solve a real-world situation or create a practical scenario based on the guidelines of the project. 

For homework: students will read lessons, do basic math drills, work on assignments, quizzes and tests. Business math should take about 30 minutes a day during the week. 

Supplies needed: Abeka student text, notebook paper, pencils

Notes: Calculators may be used on some assignments except for math drills and others specified by the tutor. 

Tutor will supply copies of worksheets, tests and quizzes, materials for projects and other resources for group and individual assignments

Parents do not need the answer key unless it’s just wanted for parent use. Tutor will grade assignments.

Please check with umbrella school. Students that are college bound, this class may be an elective. 

Students that are not college bound, this may count as a math credit for graduation requirements
