Mini S.T.E.M. FULL

What is S.T.E.M. education?  S.T.E.M. is our kid’s future.  S.T.E.M.  is science, technology, engineering, and math. In each one of these areas of learning it is imperative that our kids need to be comfortable with and enjoy tackling the challenges that come their way in order to excel in their adult lives.  S.T.E.M.  makes creators, thinkers, problem solvers, doers, innovators, and inventors. Exposing kids to simple S.T.E.M. ideas and challenges at an early age sets a foundation for higher learning tomorrow.

This class is designed for young learners and will be a tutor-led course.  We will start with a story that poses us with a “problem” to be solved.  Students will then be led through the STEM process as a class (ask, imagine, plan, create, test, improve).  They will work together as a large group, reinforcing honoring everyone’s ideas, and collaboration, while also teaching the fundamentals of the STEM process.  Toward the end of the year, the students will start working more independently on the steps and completing challenges without as much tutor intervention.

Our goal in S.T.E.M. education is to activate students’ curiosity, leading them to ask good questions, and transferring the responsibility for learning from the teacher to the student.
