U.S. History & the 50 States

Travel back in time and explore U.S. history from a Christian perspective with fascinating stories, hands-on activities, a timeline, and a student-created history notebook with this 1.5-hour, 30-week class built on My Father’s World curriculum Adventures in U.S. History.

From the discovery of the land to the addition of each of the 50 states, an overview of American History will be presented with a spotlight on the biblical character of America’s forefathers. Splashes of geography, science, culinary arts, and music will also be included.

Historical Events covered include the settlement of Jamestown, the Mayflower trip, the Declaration of Independence, the Revolutionary War, the First Thanksgiving, the Wilderness Road, the Louisiana Purchase, the War of 1812, Expanding West, the Telegraph, the California Gold Rush, Westbound Trails, the Civil War, and the Railroad.

Notable persons introduced include Leif Ericsson, Christopher Columbus, John Smith, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Daniel Boone, Eli Whitney, Robert Fulton, Samuel Morse, and Abraham Lincoln.

With the addition of each state to the Union, students will be presented with information about the state flag, state bird, state tree, motto, capital, and more.

All materials and supplies will be provided by the tutor covered by the supply fee.

Homework requirement: the course will have light homework but for families who desire to dig deeper, enrichment opportunities will be provided.
