Phonics of Art and Drawing (Tuesday) FULL

Are you the first to raise your hand when someone asks “Who in here can draw?”? If so you were probably never officially taught how to draw. Artistic skills can be learned and built over time.  Skills acquired in this class will help your child develop fine motor skills and eye-hand coordination while learning the fundamental drawing principles that will enable your child to draw anything! We will cover topics such as Shape, Shadow, contour line, perspective, color theory, portraiture, composition, and style.

The Phonics of Art and Drawing levels I & II and above is a 30-week 1 ½ hour class where the students will learn to develop and improve their skill levels. In this class, we will utilize charcoal, oil pastel, colored pencil, and watercolor. Some of the lessons are step-by-step.  Others will be free drawing and still life. The ultimate goal of this course is to provide a solid foundation for artistic expression in this class and beyond.

Level II and above students will continue to work on these same principles with more challenging subjects and more expanded media used.  They will use the additional tools of color pastels, water-colored pencils, linocut blocks, and printmaking, and be introduced to acrylics. Students must have completed level I to be allowed to participate in level II etc.

Parents, please note this class is challenging.  This is for serious art student who is willing to work hard and complete difficult tasks to improve their art ability.
