Lego Building Challenge/S.T.E.M.

Calling all Lego master builders! Calling all engineers, architects, and creators! Lego Building Challenge will utilize the amazing Lego brick to build a weekly Lego creation. This class will challenge creativity, foster planning, develop problem-solving skills, and include light- hearted competition.

Each 1.5 hour class will include a new challenge to plan, design, and create original Lego masterpieces. Legos will be used to make animals, vehicles, murals, and much more. Students will make Lego wind racers, castles, and two-dimensional images. Some creations will tell a story, include chain reactions, develop mechanical and science know-how, or foster competition. Over the course of the year, each class will introduce a new challenge or activity to be completed and presented. Students will be challenged to use their creativity, problem solve, collaborate with their peers, and build brick by brick. Older students and master builders will help and encourage younger, novice builders. Students will practice using a growth mindset to face challenges and keep on going. Students will utilize S.T.E.M. skills to modify and improve their products. We will practice open-ended thinking and students will be encouraged to share ideas to help each other achieve their goals. Creativity is encouraged! Fun is essential!

Class homework requirements: No homework is required, but students are encouraged to build at home and practice the skills learned in class.
