Survey of CS Lewis Literature with Composition (High School English*)
“Thirst was made for water; inquiry for truth. ” ~ C.S. Lewis
C.S. Lewis is considered one of the greatest writers and thinkers of the 20th Century. This survey of his literature includes Christian apologetics, science fiction, children’s fantasy, autobiography and allegory. Class discussion will be conducted in a Socratic seminar style that challenges students to examine and evaluate powerful truths.
During first semester, students will write two literary analysis essays. During second semester, they will write a research paper. Students will learn how to use multiple sources, properly cite sources, develop a bibliography, and organize research.
*Meets the literature and composition requirements for the mandatory High School English credit (if approved by your cover school); parents must add grammar.
