Few activities come as naturally to young children as drawing. Creating art has numerous developmental benefits including developing fine motor skills, concentration , improves eye-hand coordination, problem solving and increased confidence.
Art Around the World is a 1-1/2 hour 30 week art class we will discover places and things around the world. Each week your child will be in inspired by a unique landscape, Artist or creative practice of a country. This class will reinforce what your child is learning in the Galloping the Globe class; however, even if not taking the other class your child will learn and be inspired.
Many of the assignments are teacher lead in the beginning to build their drawing skill and confidence. After the initial instruction, your child will be encouraged to add their own personality into the details and completion of his or her projects.. My ultimate goal for the year is to turn these students into budding artists confident in their new skills. I will weave color theory and famous artist information into the lessons when appropriate. My hope is that my students will be engaged in work that is meaningful and challenging to them while simultaneously experiencing the joy of creating!

COVID-19 Contingency Plan:
In the event that the COVID-19 pandemic affects our ability to meet in person in a classroom for the 2020-21 school year, I will make the following adjustments to this class.
*Tutor will submit youtube videos to view and complete for the weekly project.
*Tutor and students will meet during the last 30 minutes of the scheduled class time for questions, direction and input via video conferencing platform.
Our plan is to meet in person as soon as it is feasible. We may begin OR cancel CLASSROOM meetings at any point during the school year as the COVID-19 situation changes. Our goal is to keep your family safe and engaged during this unprecedented time.
