Wood-working

This 30 week 1 ½ hour class will focus on building basic woodworking skills that will give the student the confidence and ability to use basic hand tools to create and build. We will learn to visualize, measure, plan and choose materials to make fun original and useful projects.

With the wide availability of inexpensive power tools, the principle of doing something by “hand” has been buried.  To bring this level of craftsmanship to the attention of the student, power tools will be used as little as possible. This will promote patience and simplicity of form.

Projects will include a simple box, a car, bird feeder and a birdhouse to name a few.

The supply fee will cover everything your student will need to complete the class and all projects.

Please note that this will be a busy and noisy place.  Safety is very important.  If you have a child with sensory issues you might want to rethink this class.

This class will be limited to 12 students.

Class Homework requirements: This class will have no homework the projects will be directed so that they can be completed in class.
