Handyman Class

This 30 week 1 ½ hour class will focus on the basic skills needed to do minor home repairs, improvements, and maintenance.  The student will learn how to assess and diagnose minor problems with plumbing, electrical and mechanical.

Plumbing issues will include leaky toilets and faucets. Electrical issues will include faulty outlets, switches, and fixture replacement. Mechanical issues will be more inclusive and cover drywall repair, properly securing items to the wall and general care of the home.

Learning how to safely work around the home is the first step in home upkeep. This class will help students learn “what to do” if this happens and also “what not to do” and when to call a professional.

The supply fee will cover all in class requirements and each student will have a handyman kit at the end of the year.

Please note that this will be a busy and noisy place.  Safety is very important.  If you have a child with sensory issues you might want to rethink this class.

This class will be limited to 10 students.

Class Homework requirements: The student will be sent on exploratory and recon missions around their home to take pictures of their faucets, toilet inner workings, furnaces etc.  This will then be discussed in class
