Adventures in French Grades 6-8

Introduction to French Level 1 Grades 6-8

This class is designed to use French to help your student discover the French-speaking world. We will engage students with activities to help them learn the language and culture of the Francophone. There will be songs and stories as well as geography. These will all help your student with French language acquisition.

For our middle-school students we will use a conversation-based format to engage them in the language. They will be able to use French phrases and expressions to speak about different topics. They will also have different activities to discover the world around them that uses French in their daily activities. France and other European countries that use French will be discussed as well as French-speaking Africa and Canada. There are 29 countries that use French as their official language so we have much to discover.

COVID-19 Contingency Plan:

In the event that the COVID-19 pandemic affects our ability to meet in person in a classroom for the 2021-22 school year, I will make the following adjustments to this class. Tutor and students will meet at the scheduled class time via a video chat service. Assignments can be submitted electronically, and feedback will be provided electronically. Our goal is to meet in person as soon as it is feasible. We may begin classroom meetings at any point during the school year as the COVID-19 situation resolves.
