Creative Writing

This 30-week class will be divided into small units where each unit will be defined by a specific world event. Exploring literature written during time periods of major world events allows for endless discussions and intense thought provocation. This class will involve group discussions, detailed writing prompts requiring research and investigation, and general reading assignments in order to be prepared for in person discussion. We will be developing our communication/discussion skills in this class in addition to our writing skills. Some of the reading material for this class will overlap for the students in my Language Arts and World Wars classes to create more time for investigation and discovery of specific topics versus jumping all over between completely new ones. This overlap will facilitate a more classical learning approach. I have recently joined TCT as a tutor, and am still working to develop my curriculum and lesson plans. This course description will be updated as soon as possible to reflect a more detailed outline of the course and required study materials.

COVID-19 Contingency Plan:

In the event that the COVID-19 pandemic affects our ability to meet in person in a classroom for the 2021-22 school year, I will make the following adjustments to this class. Tutor and students will meet at the scheduled class time via a video chat service. Assignments can be submitted electronically, and feedback will be provided electronically. Our goal is to meet in person as soon as it is feasible. We may begin classroom meetings at any point during the school year as the COVID-19 situation resolves.
