Creative Writing

This 30-week class will be divided into small units where each unit will be defined by a specific world event. Exploring literature written during time periods of major world events allows for endless discussions and intense thought provocation. This class will involve group discussions, and detailed writing prompts requiring research and investigation. We will be developing our communication/discussion skills in this class in addition to our writing skills. There will also be certain class times where we will have student led discussions to pull out some ideas that really get their creativity flowing! Some of the reading material for this class will overlap for the students in my Language Arts and World Wars classes to create more time for investigation and discovery of specific topics versus jumping all over between completely new ones. This overlap will facilitate a more classical learning approach.

In the event that the COVID-19 pandemic affects our ability to meet in person in a classroom, I will make the following adjustments to this class. Tutor and students will meet at the scheduled class time via a video chat service. Assignments can be submitted electronically, and feedback will be provided electronically. Our goal is to meet in person as soon as it is feasible. We may begin classroom meetings at any point during the school year as the COVID-19 situation resolves.
