Logical Thinking
Using word problems and riddles, mysteries, codes, puzzles, and games, each student will learn to draw conclusions, think deductively, put things in sequence, make inferences, explain how a problem was solved, and relay necessary information concisely and coherently.
In addition, we will use activities and challenges from Destination Imagination, thought experiments, sudokus, and logic puzzles, all to push the boundaries of our creativity and ability to think (both inside and) outside the box!
Students will participate in group activities, card games, DI challenges, and board games, to learn how to work together and collaborate to reach a common goal. Working with others to solve problems effectively, while harnessing their creative power, is natural to kids in a state of play. This course will have the feel of an afternoon spent with friends in guided play but (shh!) students continuously work toward the development of critical and logical thinking skills as they simultaneously strengthen their skills of collaboration and communication.
Class homework requirements: none
This course can be taken multiple years to deepen skill sets and students will remain challenged.
