Learning to speak well in front of others is one of the most important gifts we can give the next generation. But it can be scary. In this class, students will practice being brave and letting their voice be heard. In addition to exploring traditional speech styles this class is filled with every day challenges students will face in the future, such as beginning interview skills, creating and presenting a sales pitch, how to give an introduction, creating a Youtube video, how to teach a small group, and a group project – presenting an informercial. We will look at some great historical speeches and watch some of today’s most gifted contemporary speakers. Guest speakers will be brought in that use some form of public speaking in daily jobs or lives.
