Pre-algebra (Tue)

Step further into the world of algebra skills. Students will continue their studies on integers, order of operations, and numeric expressions in a 30-week, 90 min course. They will dive deeper into algebraic expressions, equations, inequalities and graphing on a coordinate plane. Problem solving will be a key aspect of pre-algebra. More critical thinking skills will be needed than in previous math courses. Real-life applications will be used with each new concept in order to help students connect math to their everyday lives.

This course will be supplemented with tutor-made video lessons viewed weekly and online assignments through a game-based program provided by the tutor. Class time will be spent reinforcing video lessons (watched from home) through hands-on activities and extending the lessons for advanced learners. Students will need to come to class having viewed the lessons and completed their daily online assignments in order to stay on track and be prepared. Monthly assignment calendar sheets will be given for students to follow and make sure they are ready to fully participate in class each week. This class is a full curriculum and no supplemental curriculum will be needed.
