Phonics of Art and Drawing Level I II III & IV (Wednesday)

The Phonics of Art and Drawing levels I & II is a 30 week 1 ½ hour class where the students will learn to develop and improve the fundamental drawing principles that will enable them to draw anything! This progressive step-by-step course will provide a solid foundation for artistic expression. The topics include Shape, Shadow, Contour Line, Perspective, Color Theory, Portraiture, Composition, and Style (Impressionism & Expressionism) Uses charcoal, oil pastel, colored pencil, and watercolor.

Level II, III, and IV students will continue to work on these same principles of art and drawing with progressively challenging subjects and more expanded media used. They will use the additional tools of color pastels, water colored pencil and be introduced to acrylics. Higher levels will progress to sampling  other areas of artistic expression with in the discipline of an artist.  Students must complete the levels in order.  If your child has been in other art classes and you would like me to evaluate which level they should join please let me know.  I.

Parents please note this class is challenging. This is for the serious art student who is willing to work hard and complete difficult tasks to improve their art ability. COVID-19 Contingency Plan:

In the event that the COVID-19 pandemic affects our ability to meet in person in a classroom for the 2020-21 school year, the following adjustments will be made to Phonics of Art class. You the parent will be given the choice to continue this class in an online format, or to opt out of classes that do not meet in person. Tutor and students will meet at the scheduled class time via live video streaming. The online format will include art instruction and interaction with the students. The students will have assignments, handouts, video tutorials and supplies proved by the tutor.  If you opt out of online classes, you will be reimbursed for any tuition already paid for these classes. Our goal is to meet in person as soon as it is feasible. We may begin classroom meetings at any point during the school year as the COVID-19 situation resolves.
