Advanced Biology, Human Anatomy and Physiology

I have said it before and I will say it again, all creation is awe-inspiring, but the work of the human body, created in the very image of God, is especially jaw-dropping!

This 32-week 1.5 hour Advanced High School level Anatomy and Physiology class will embark on the challenging but fascinating study of the human body and its functions. The class will showcase the intricacy and design from DNA and cell creation to the 11 major organ systems of the body. The text has 3 unifying themes: the relationship between physiology and anatomy, the interrelations among the organ systems and the relationship each organ to homeostasis.  This book will provide the student with a solid foundation in understanding and appreciation of the incredible living organism that is our human body. Throughout the class I will rely on my extensive nursing experience with examples and stories to bring home the importance of the subject matter to aid the student to understand the practical applications to the information they are absorbing.  This is an excellent class to prepare students for college level work and perfect for those interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare industry.

This class will include lectures, experiments, anatomical models, dissections, and hands on experiences of all kinds. All activities will drive home the concepts covered in the class and the text. This class will be challenging but fun. Quizzes, tests, homework assignments, and personal projects will be given and graded by the instructor. All grades and tests will be accessible though Schoology.com. Prerequisite for this class is High School Biology.  High School Chemistry, though helpful is not required.
