A fun, 30 week hands-on hour and a half class using step-by-step stop-motion animation technology and Lego bricks/minifigs to teach basic story-telling, lighting, camera angles, sound effects and scenery techniques. Some Lego minifigs will be supplied and students are encouraged to bring their own (sanitized). Projects include comedy and action shorts with a feature presentation/showcase at semester end.  Animation history and milestones will be covered.  Classic animation movie scenes will also be explored and critiqued.  Also planned are implementations of different stop-motion materials such as modeling clay and others. Solo work projects will be assigned for home, solo and group projects will be done in class or on zoom. Group projects will also give students ability to adapt to changing and different roles (camera operator, lights, director, minifig operator) and promote team building skills.

Materials needed:

Covid 19 Policy:

In the event that the COVID-19 pandemic affects our ability to meet in person in a classroom for the 2021-22 school year, I will make the following adjustments to this class. Teacher and students will meet at the scheduled class time via a video chat service. Assignments can be submitted electronically, and feedback will be provided electronically. Our goal is to meet in person as soon as it is feasible. We may begin classroom meetings at any point during the school year as the COVID-19 situation resolves
