Math Drill Thrill!

Struggling to conquer those pesky math facts? Let’s try to master those facts in a fun way! Math Drill Thrill is a 30 week course, meeting for 90 minutes a week. Come join us and improve your confidence and your ability to be successful in foundational math skills.

“What are math drills,” you ask? Math drills are typically sets of math questions which assess a specific skill. They are designed to improve accuracy and speed of fundamental math concepts. Often drills are timed, but may be assigned for completion instead. Many times teachers assign math drills simply through worksheets. This course seeks to shake things up and make math more interactive. By using multiple techniques to help drill in those facts, students will never be bored and will learn that math CAN be fun! Prizes and incentives will be used to help motivate learners.

This course will not include graded assignments and should not take the place of a regular math curriculum at home. Optional assignments will be given that may be completed throughout the course. Skills selected are based on struggle spots for the average learner.

Skills that will be drilled include the following:

  • Single and Multi—digit addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Powers of Ten
  • Order of operations
  • Basics of fractions (comparing, ordering, modeling)
  • Money
  • Time
  • Fact Families
  • Patterning

COVID-19 Contingency Plan:

In the event that the COVID-19 pandemic affects our ability to meet in person in a classroom for the 2021-22 school year, this class will be temporarily cancelled and refunds will be issued for the weeks that are not met. If possible, we will try to make up missed classes at the end of the year. Please note we may begin or end classroom meetings at any point during the school year as the COVID-19 situation resolves. We will meet in person as long as it is safe to do so.
