Elementary school students are not old enough to drive, work, vote, or be the boss. But that does not stop them from operating banks, managing restaurants, writing checks, and voting for mayor at JA BizTown. This unique program, designed for 5th-6th grades, combines in-class learning with a day-long visit to a fully interactive simulated town facility. (Fourth graders may enroll but must have approval.)
JA BizTown helps students connect the dots between what they learn in school and the real world. Through the experiential learning process, students are actively engaged in posing questions, investigating, expressing curiosity, solving problems, and assuming responsibility. Students will understand the value of money and doing a good job, work cooperatively in teams, and see the connection between learning and earning.
In the spring, the class will take a day long field trip to the JA BizTown simulated city where each student will have a job to help make the city run smoothly.

Our plan is to meet in person as soon as it is feasible. We may begin or cancel classroom meetings at any point during the school year as the COVID-19 situation changes. Our goal is to keep your family safe during this unprecedented time.
As a teacher of K-3 students, I feel that online classes are not feasible. I will reimburse for classes that are not meeting in person due to COVID-19.
