Hands On Art History

Looking at a beautiful painting, or staring up at a huge, awe-inspiring sculpture, we are often left struggling for words.  In history artists expressed personal and emotional experiences in their work and we can daily be inspired by them.

In this 30 week Hands on ART History your student will be exposed to a different artist each week.  Your child will be inspired by the masters and modern artist’s work while building skills of the own.  We will bounce through different periods in History to discover what was happening in the artistic world.  Each week we utilize different artistic mediums to create work inspired by other artists often putting a twist on the artist we are studying. I will teach different art techniques, simple color theory, color relationships, and art history through fun and imaginative projects. Much more and ART class than a history class, we should complete and art project per week.

Your child will hone their artistic skills and create colorful, imaginative work through drawing, pastels, painting, and collage. This ART class is not a one and done experience.  I attempt to provide new projects each year but some lessons are too fun not to repeat!  From cave ART to Cubism, Monet to Modern art, we will cover it. Your child will be inspired by the masters and modern artist’s work while building skills in this class.  I cannot wait to see what your children create.

COVID-19 Contingency Plan:

In the event that the COVID-19 pandemic affects our ability to meet in person in a classroom for the 2020-21 school year, I will make the following adjustments to this class.

*Tutor will submit youtube videos to view and complete for the weekly project.
*Tutor and students will meet during the last 30 minutes of the scheduled class time for questions, direction and input via video conferencing platform.

Our plan is to meet in person as soon as it is feasible. We may begin OR cancel CLASSROOM meetings at any point during the school year as the COVID-19 situation changes.  Our goal is to keep your family safe and engaged during this unprecedented time.
