Intermediate Middle School Language Arts: Grades 6-8
This 30 week, 1 ½ hour class is geared to middle school students with some writing experience, and ones who can write a cohesive paragraph. Each class will consist of reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and spelling.
Students will expand their writing knowledge by venturing into multiple paragraph essays. Writing assignments will include descriptive and persuasive writing techniques. Organizing, outlining, strong thesis statements, and writing from multiple points of view will also be covered. Literature and vocabulary will be blend seamlessly. Students will explore themes, and literary devices across a wide variety of genres. These include drama, short stories, poetry, classics, and modern literature. Vocabulary list and definitions will be derived from reading selections. Spelling will focus on mastering and reviewing spelling rules with challenging words. Grammar will be taught with the Analytical Grammar method through diagraming.
Instructor will supply all necessary curriculum and reading. Supply Fee reflects instructor’s purchase of these items.
