Middle School Book Club

Middle School Book Club

Does your student love to read?  Does she like many different styles of writing?  Does he discuss his latest book over dinner?  If so, then this class is for your child!

In Middle School Book Club, we will have common books for all to read independently at home and then come to Book Club ready to discuss. These books will cover a broad range of writing, from classic literature to dystopian novels, to contemporary fiction. Book discussions will come alive through casual conversation, re-enacting key events from the book, discussing how characters behaved at certain points in the text, art integration, and literature related activities.  Students will take ownership of the group over time by having the opportunity to suggest books, lead discussions and work in individual and group projects. They will also gain experience working in a group as they listen to each other, respect the opinions of others, and offer comments supported by reasons and evidence. Students will make friends both on and off the page as we dive into the wonderful world of literature together!!

** 1st semester book list will be provided at registration – each student will need to have access to each book **
