Apologia’s General Science +STEM
This 30 week 1 hour 40 minute course is designed to be a student’s first systematic introduction to the sciences as well as a great introduction to more advanced study skills. Adding a STEM challenge to each quarter gives the added bonus of incorporating concepts learned with an engaging project. STEM develops a set of thinking, reasoning, teamwork, investigative, and creative skills that students can use in all areas of their live.
We will be using Apologia’s Exploring Creation with General Science. The course covers topics like the history of science, scientific method, designing experiments, simple machines, archaeology, geology, paleontology, biology, human anatomy and physiology. Therefore, its scope is quite wide. The classes will consist of both lecture and lab experiments, hands on learning exercises 4 multi week STEM challenges and fun mastery games. The key text incorporates an engaging, conversational tone capable of grabbing teenagers’ attention and keeping their minds on track. The authors give a Christian viewpoint and lift up God’s incredible design for the world, which is reinforced with colorful illustrations, pictures, tables and charts.
You will need to purchase the Exploring Creation with General Science 2nd edition. Textbook, and the 2nd edition Student Notebook
Home access to computer/internet is required for this class. We communicate test and post grades on line.
