Zoology with Lab

Zoology with Lab

Pre-requisite: Biology

Zoology: the scientific study of the behavior, structure, physiology, classification, and distribution of animals (Oxford Dictionary).

Students with an innate love of animals, or those who just want to learn more about animals, will enjoy Zoology. This 32 week, 1 ½ hour high school lab science class will comprehensively examine Kingdom Animalia. Topics to be covered include:

  • Mammals
  • Reptiles
  • Fish
  • Birds
  • Ecology

Students will be expected to participate in class discussions and lab activities. Labs will include dissections and other hands-on activities. Outside projects will be assigned to further reinforce concepts learned.
The selected textbook approaches zoology from an evolutionary perspective. The worldview I will teach is Creationism. Evolution will only be explored as a concept contrary to God’s Word.
Supplies provided by instructor: textbook: Zoology (7th edition), General Zoology Laboratory Guide (15th edition), all lab supplies, dissection supplies and specimens.
