Primary K-3 Classes

TCT will be offering these  classes for K-3:

Exploring Drama

This 30 week class will introduce students to basic theatre and drama
techniques including dramatic readings and acting. Students will have
both formal and casual assignments and will participate in a class
production at the end of each semester where students will not only act,
but also make scenery and costumes and work behind the scenes. Students
will learn theatre terminology and other skills which will better enable
them to participate in other theatre venues.

Play dates are Saturday, November 18 and Saturday, April 21. Please check these dates for conflicts before you sign up for class as the dates are firm and stage has already been booked. Scheduled plays are The Velveteen Rabbit (November) and Beauty and the Beast (April). These plays are tentative, subject to number and make-up of students enrolled in each class.

In this fun 1-1/2 hour 30 week class we will discover the joys of art expression. Each lesson will have step by step drawing instruction with the goal of breaking down each project into simple components.  We will weave the concepts of color theory, perspective, shape, shadow and contour lines, and composition.  We will use a variety of mediums and subjects to give them a well-rounded introduction to artistic expression.  We will work with crayons, markers, oil pastels, chalk pastels, water color, clay, papier-mâché, finger paints and much more. We plan on getting messy and having fun.  Our goal for this class will be to build confidence and encourage exploration.  As with all of our art classes our goal is to turn students into budding artists confident in their new skills. SHOW-N-TELL/INTRO TO PUBLIC SPEAKING – K-3rd grade

This 30 week interactive class is a fun, low-pressured introduction to public speaking class for little ones. Each week, your young student will have a simple show-n-tell, or ‘presentation’,  topic (I.e. “bring a favorite toy and tell the class 3 reasons why it’s your favorite”, or “dress like your favorite book character and tell why”).  After giving their “presentation”, classmates  will have the chance to ask questions. This engaging class will develop your child’s confidence levels, and teach them not only how to be a better speaker but how to be a better listener.

Tigres B (“Tigers” Beginner Spanish)

In this 30-week class, we will explore Spanish in a fun, hands-on way, using conversation, games, music, food, and books. We will be “Exploradores” (Explorers) who visit Spanish-speaking countries, sample their foods, listen to their music, and celebrate some of their festivals and holidays. Guest speakers will share why Spanish is important to them and how they use it in different ways. The class goal is for students to know basic daily vocabulary, be able to carry on brief conversations in Spanish and be enthusiastic about further language learning. Take-homes will help parents and siblings to join in learning Spanish and having conversations together! This class focuses more on spoken than written Spanish, although we do cover some of both. (This class is Year B so students who had “Elementary Spanish” last year can participate again and learn different vocabulary, as well as students who have no previous Spanish.)
