Art Around the World A

In this 1-1/2 hour 30 week class we will discover the unique landscape or art/artists of each state in the United States of America. Even if not taking the Jumping Into Geography class, this art class could be the one for you!

Then the students will add their own personality in the details. My ultimate goal for the year is to turn these students into budding artists confident in their new skills. I will weave color theory and famous artist information into the lessons when appropriate. My hope is that my students will be engaged in work that is meaningful and challenging to them while simultaneously experiencing the joy of creating!

SHOW-N-TELL  K-3rd grade

This 30 week interactive class is a fun, low-pressured introduction to public speaking class for little ones. Each week, your young student will have a simple show-n-tell, or ‘presentation’,  topic (I.e. “bring a favorite toy and tell the class 3 reasons why it’s your favorite”, or “dress like your favorite book character and tell why”).  After giving their “presentation”, classmates  will have the chance to ask questions. This engaging class will develop your child’s confidence levels, and teach them not only how to be a better speaker but how to be a better listener.

Tigres A (“Tigers” Beginner Spanish, year A)

In this 30-week class, we will explore Spanish in a fun, hands-on way, using conversation, games, music, food, and books. We will be “Exploradores” (Explorers) who visit Spanish-speaking countries, sample their foods, listen to their music, and celebrate some of their festivals and holidays. Guest speakers will share why Spanish is important to them and how they use it in different ways. The class goal is for students to know basic daily vocabulary, be able to carry on brief conversations in Spanish and be enthusiastic about further language learning. Take-homes will help parents and siblings to join in learning Spanish and having conversations together! This class focuses more on spoken than written Spanish, although we do cover some of both. (This class is Year A so students who had Tigres B the previous year can participate again and learn different vocabulary, as well as students who have no previous Spanish.)
