Phonics of Art and Drawing Level I, II, III & IV Multi-media

Phonics of Art and Drawing Level I, II, III & IV  Multi-media

Art level III & IV  Multi-media is an advanced art experience.  In this 32 week 1 ½ hour class we will further explore advanced techniques in artistic expression.  The topics include Shape, Shadow, Contour Line, Perspective, Color Theory, Portraiture, Composition, and Style.   This course will include an art appreciation component with field trips to art galleries and other on location drawing experiences.  The art appreciation text, The Annotated Mona Lisa, gives the reader fascinating glimpses of art, the artists, and their critics’ evaluations.  You’ll finish this book understanding art and artists in a whole new way.

This class will use a wide variety of materials including but not limited to charcoal, pastels, oil pastel, colored pencil, watercolor, water color pencils, wire sculpture and acrylics on canvas.

If you have a student with advanced art skill and an independent worker you are welcome to talk with me about presenting examples of their work for approval. In this class I will be challenging the students to explore the art they see around them, to record ideas they would like to copy or alter into an art note book, and  to use in their own art work.  In class I will continually encourage the students to take their projects to a higher level.

For these levels you will need to purchase The Annotated Mona Lisa, a 1 inch 3 ring binder, and  “The New Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain Work book, Guided practice in the Five Basic Skills of Drawing” (Unless you have completed these texts in a previous art class)   and a blank page artist notebook for an art journal.
